The Knowledge Bank is a register of Norway’s intangible cultural heritage. The Knowledge Bank has been created by Arts Council Norway. The objective is to show the diversity of living cultural expression in various parts of the country. The creation of such a register is part of the obligations every country accepts when they ratify UNESCO’s Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage from 2003. This global agreement facilitates the preservation of cultural practices that are handed down from generation to generation and provide a sense of continuity and identity.
Anyone can submit a contribution to the Knowledge Bank. The contributions can be freely linked to and cited.
